Announcements

Finance – Rod gave balance and announced payment for 3rd floor meeting space

Permission granted for using 3rd floor space for meeting, planning and sign making for Sunday Fort Des Moines Church protest. 

Announcement of Nolan Plaza Anti-War Rally on 02/21 outside of Huffington Post event at 6PM.

Announcement of Occupy Des Moines Who is ALEC press conference 10AM at Iowa Statehouse or Statehouse grounds (IE people’s park.) 

Passed Proposals

Meeting times and dates were not included in proposals. If you see something that interests you, stay tuned to the facebook group or this website for details on time and place. Contact the point person if you are interested in joining a working group. If my descriptions are off, please correct with an email to rmgrooter@gmail.com and I will get them modified. 

Form A Public Speaking working group – Point Person, Steve (H?) – have a working group to do teach-in in order to inform people on subjects pertaining to occupy Des Moines, and coach people to speak better on the issues to the media and the public. Sort of a toastmasters chat (did I get that correct?) group. 

Facilitation Working Group – Point Person, Aaron – come up with ground rules and a ground work for GA and other facilitation. Make Occupy Des Moines have a more definitive working structure. 

Operation Wrapping Paper – Point Person, Liz – create artwork with issues pertaining to the 99%. Present pieces of art and signage in a tasteful and educational manner in order to shine light on issues pertaining to the occupy movement. 

Facebook 2.0 Occupy Des Moines Facebook reboot – Point Person, Aaron – Proposal can actually be found on the members only, closed facebook group. The general idea is to change this group to admin only for events and notifications, and to create a new or separate public Occupy Des Moines facebook group for debate and more off-topic or personal chatter. 

Proposal to pay $550.00 on the internet bill from occupy Des Moines funds. Passed, contingent upon this being the last time the issue is raised for discussion at GA. No further money will be paid to the internet bill by occupy Des Moines. More money was raised among members who personally wanted to give to Clarke D. to cover the remaining balance. Clarke agreed to pay the rest of the balance (approximately $80-$90 remain for Clarke) after donations, and after occupy Des Moines covered the amount agreed. 

Tabled Proposals

Jail Solidarity group/Phone tree/contact list – tabled for further clarification, possibly in conjunction with Legal.

Phone Tree/Database/On-site volunteer Data collector at 500 E. Locust – bundled and tabled for discussion with Facilitation Working Group. 

Statement of Intent working group – discussion of beginning meeting again, time and place to be determined. Proposal already passed months ago for GA permission to meet and continue refining occupy Des Moines Statement of intent. Possible point person, Shawn

Press Release/Twitter Occupy Des Moines – tabled on account proposer not present 

Cable Access TV show – Still on table and needing to be heard first thing, account Steve not able to fit proposal in due to time. Priority for future GA.
